The Nintendo R4 Card Waits For Firmware Update Since Nintendo Released Newest Firmware For DSi.

Getting a firmware update for any game system these days is more than norm, than the exception, and it’s the same whether you have the Sony PSP or your trusty old Nintendo DS or DSi console. And as expected, what this usually means is that the NDS homebrew cards like the R4 Card end up not working until there is a new firmware released for the the R4.

Nintendo has released a new firmware update for the DSi — the first update in over a year. What’s important to note here is that this update offers no new fixes or functions and no features of any kind. However, several DSi compatible NDS homebrew flash cards are at this time, not working with the new update.

As a result of this, I would urge anyone who does onw an R4 DS Card not to bother updating their NDS or DSi consoles just yet.

If you like your homebrew games and can’t imagine being without your NDS homebrew applications, simply do not update to the newest firmware until further notice. Your homebrew games, and apps and the developers behind them are not going anywhere. Just the way updates have rendered R4 Cards incompatible in the past, the manufacturers are always very quick to address these issues and they will have no problem updating their on firmware to let you keep playing your games and appls, etc.. On your NDS and Nintendo DSi..

With the help of the built in movie player, you’ll also be right back to watching your favorite movies again, as soon as the firmware update is completed.

For thos of you who may not know what the R4 Card is, it is a flash card that lets you use microSD Card media to store and load your games, movies, music and much more on your Nintendo DS or DSi console. It works, looks, and does exactly what a normal Nintendo DS game card does, with benefits of course, because it allows you to turn your Nintendo DS into a multi media entertainment system in your pocket.
