Portable projectors the proficient and multi-purpose devices
Multimedia projectors have become a necessity in everyday lives. Projectors are suitable for home, education, business or promotional needs. A high quality projector can make a presentation win accolades or turn a living room into a theatre. There is a wide variety of brands like Acer, Benq, Canon, Dell, Epson, Hitachi, Panasonic, Sony and Sharp projectors available in the market. While choosing a projector the correct resolution, brightness and other features should be kept in mind. The size, weight and price of digital projectors also matter depending on the usage of the device. The projectors that are designed for home have an aspect ratio of 16:9 while those for business purposes have the ratio of 4:3.
The projection technology used in the device is another specification to be kept in mind while selecting a projector. CRT projectors using cathode ray tubes are the oldest and less popular because of its weight. LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and DLP (Digital Light Processing) projectors are the two most popular technologies. LCD projectors are older as compared to DLP projectors and project light through panels. The use of power is more efficient and the images displayed are quite clearer and brighter.
However, the only disadvantage that a LCD projector has is that it can suffer from fly screen and banding issues. DLP projectors have digital micro mirror devices (DMD) or chips made of small mirrors on tiny hinges that reflect light. The projector can have a single, double or three-chip array. While the single chip and double chip DLP projectors can give the Rainbow effect i.e. flashes of red, green and blue across the image, a three-chip device does not suffer from that drawback. It is more suited for those presentations that have animations and video footage.
The use of DMDs makes them smaller than LCD projectors. LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) is another technology, but not very popular because of the high cost. LED projectors, Hybrid LED and Laser diode system are also available that give clarity and sharpness in the projection.
Portable projectors are easy to carry, can connect simply and quickly to a notebook and can be used in multiple locations. For those on the go they are very useful as the light weight (less than three kg) makes them an essential and a good accompaniment. Micro portable projectors are even less bulky and weigh less than 1.5kg. So if you are looking for a projector that you can use for a roadside presentation, then micro portable projectors are just the right tool. The demand for projectors in India has increased and the choice of devices makes it tough for the user to select one.
