Da-Lite Projection Screen For Stages
LARGE is what the Da-Lite Senior Electrol electronic screen is all about. Da-Lite have specifically designed and specified this screen for stage and auditorium use.
To give you an idea of the magnitude of just how large the Da-Lite Senior Electrol electric projector screen is able to go here are some figures. Now the sizes that are available do depend on the format or aspect ratio that you need the screen to come in. For 4:3 and 16:9 formats the sizes range from 84 inches diagonally all the way up to 271 inches diagonally. While for the square format they are available in 50 inches by 50 inches right up to 20 foot by 20 foot. Whereas if you are after something a little unique and you still need the size you can get the screen in a 2:1 ratio and they come big too, right up to 12 foot high by 24 foot wide.
Given the Senior Electrol screen is designed for stages and auditoriums Da-Lite have specified it with a number of different mounting options, thankfully realizing that a one-size-fits-all approach in this sort of market segment would not be appropriate. As with most projector screen the Senior Electrol can be mounted on the wall and given the flexibility of the setup can also be mounted in a recessed position in the ceiling.
This particular Da-Lite projection screen comes in three different types of screen surfaces, all with their own unique advantage or skills to help you overcome your particular projection environment issues. The three screen surfaces are Matte White, Video Spectra 1.5 and High Power.
Matte White
The Matte White is a great all-rounder/multipurpose screen, which unless you have any pressing unique projection issues to overcome, should suit the Senior Electrol projector screen in most installs and present a good viewing image to all spectators. The Matte White surface has a very wide viewing angle of 60 degrees and a gain of 1.0. So if the amount of light is in some manner controllable and you have a large or spread out audience to address the Matte White is an excellent surface to go with.
Video Spectra 1.5
As you can probably tell from the name this screen surface has an elevated gain of 1/5 and is expertly matched to video sourced content. Built with a special reflective coating, the Video Spectra provides a boost to the brightness of the projected image with a reduced viewing angle. This type of surface is an excellent choice for a venue where the amount of ambient light cannot possibly be controlled and you need a bring image to match and overcome the existing light. So it has an overall gain of 1.5 and the viewing angle is reduced from the 60 degrees of the Matte White to 35 degrees.
High Power
The High Power on the other hand is all about gain. So if you have an old projector that you need to hand onto for legacy reasons, the High Power is a great surface to go with on the Senior Electrol electric projection screen to boost the brightness of the image without sacrificing the quality of the projected image too much. Of course nothing in life is prefect and where there are pluses there are also minuses, and in the case of the High Power screen surface the negative or rate the negative is the viewing angle. When you boost the gain of a screen unfortunately it is the viewing angle which suffers, in this case the viewing angle is 30 degrees, so half that of the Matte White but you are getting more than double the gain.
