East Delhi Rwa’s Demands From Bses
New Delhi: Several Resident Welfare Association’s (RWA’s) in East Delhi have written a letter to Delhi Power Minister A.K.Walia demanding better power infrastructure including improved wiring and street lighting and pruning of trees on wires and eliminating growing regular power cuts.
“Various complaints to BSES on growing power cuts and poor street lighting in Vivek Vihar have fallen on deaf ears. Even during the BSES –RWA meeting held on November 3 (yesterday) we had raised these issues but of no avail and BSES officials refused to take up the matter under on pretext or the other” said Mrs Ritu Bhatia , General secretary, Vivek Vihar RWA .
“Privatization was brought in Delhi for better power and services to consumers, the situation is as bad as Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB) days’ she added.
” We are having power cuts of almost four to five hours a day these days , when there is not much demand for power, one wonders what will happen during peak winter and summers” said Rajesh Dokhwal of Mayur Vihar phase III.
“We have writing to BSES for change of age old wires in our colony for last two years but to no effect. Last year a car was also burnt in the colony due to poor wiring. The street lighting is never functional and the routine BSES officials reply is that they do not been provided the equipment by the company to replace the lights ” said Rajiv Setia of Priya Enclave RWA.
“In Ram Vihar, change of wires was taken up by BSES after follow up of two years, but left the job after completing 40 % change of wires. Similarly issue of pruning of trees has been taken up with BSES several times but of no avail . The main purpose of street lighting for better security is lost as these grown up trees cover the street lights” said Mr G. R. Nafri, vice president , Ram vihar , RWA .
“Regular four to five hour daily power cuts are taking toll on daily life of residents and students. Most of the kitchen gadgets do not work on invertors , same is with washing machines . Daily house hold chores go haywire due to power cuts” said Mrs Urvashi a house wife in East Delhi
