Dent and Scratch Removal
Dents and scratches are perhaps the most predictable part of owning a car. Though we try to keep away from them, they invariably turn up sometime or the other. Nowadays, the most popular method of dent and scratch repair seems to be Paint less Dent Removal, also known as PDR. Depending on the amount of work involved in the repair, the methods differ but the basic technique remains the same. Essentially, PDR entails steady pushing of a metal in order to return it to its original place. It is a slow but profitable method if done correctly.
Special types of dent removal tools are used by skilled technicians to removal or fix the dents in the car. These tools are long and flat so that they can reach even the smallest of the gaps. Also, these tools are capable of sliding into place to pressurize the metal to its original place. In addition, this technique does not spoil the paint of the car and is relatively inexpensive compared to other techniques of dent removal.
Some shops also stock and supply special dent and scratch repair kits, which have everything, required to take proper care of the trouble.
Alloy wheels are great enhancements to a car’s beauty. Car manufacturers have now taken to installing modified wheels made of special alloy. But with the growing popularity and enhanced looks comes the burden of maintenance. It is a misconception that alloy wheels repairs are almost impossible. It is in fact, a well studied art done by professionals though there are a number of DIY articles on the net giving step by step guidance.
Alloy wheel repairs are often recommended for wheels that are non-forged. Forged wheels are tougher and therefore, more expensive. Two piece and three piece alloy wheels are also more prone to damage as the outer lips of the wheel are made of softer alloys. The operation is best undertaken during the warm months and it is best left to the professionals who know their job and have been trained to do it.
